Fermoy has earned its place in the Margaret River wine story, having quietly built a reputation for crafting critically acclaimed wines of refinement, precision and elegance.
Founded in 1985, Fermoy’s first vintage was a resounding success, confirming Wilyabrup as the ‘sweet spot’ of Margaret River. Grown in an enviable location by the Wilyabrup Brook, Fermoy’s fruit ripens in conditions beautifully moderated by the nearby Indian Ocean. A mild, Mediterranean climate, afternoon sea breeze and ancient gravel soils make it perfect for growing Bordeaux and Burgundy grape varieties.
The winery experienced a revival under new family ownership and the stewardship of senior winemaker Jeremy Hodgson. Jeremy’s expertise brought a renewed focus on sustainability, small-batch winemaking and crafting site expressive wines, positioning Fermoy for its rise to global recognition.

Crafting exceptional wine begins in the vineyard, and for nearly 25 years, Andy Keig has led the way as Fermoy’s Vineyard Manager.
“Balance is key when it comes to vine and fruit management. We achieve this through a ‘less is more’ approach. The more balanced we can make the fruit on the vine, the better it is when we bring it into the winery.”
This ‘less is more’ philosophy has naturally led to a strong focus on sustainability. Fermoy is now a member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, making conscious efforts to minimise their footprint on their patch of land, which includes reducing herbicide and pesticide use, lowering tractor usage and planting mid-row cover crops to improve soil structure, increase biodiversity and naturally suppress weeds.
Fermoy remains committed to small-batch winemaking, crafting site-expressive wines that showcase the unique character of our land.
